The opening season of the year is represented by the Eagle.
In the Native American tradition the eagle represents depth of vision. It’s an animal
that soars high in the open sky with the ability both to have a sharp focus
as well as having a broad vision of the whole.

While the sun is shining in the clear blue sky, Pacha Mama uniquely welcomes the
New Year with a Silence Retreat which also brings the first Transformation Cycle

Bonding and Attachment BONDING AND ATTACHMENT
with Adevi
February 8 - 12, 2011
Price: 320 $

The term “attachment” describes the deep and enduring connection established between a child and parent (or significant caregiver) from the moment of conception, through pregnancy, birth and after birth.
If bonding between child and caregiver is interfered with or does not develop in a secure and coherent manner, deregulated attachment styles will develop. Those deregulated attachment styles will influence the ability of the person to establish a coherent sense of self and to build fulfilling and satisfying relationships later in life.
This course will positively affect relating on a personal level and will support therapeutic work with the human being, be it an adult, baby or child.

Content:
- craniosacral biodynamics
- trauma resolution
- pre- and perinatal psychology
- embryology and birth processes
- current neurophysiology research
- diamond logos – a spiritual approach to the essential human being

Format and Practice:
The format of the course will be in lectures, sharing of information, inspirational images and movies, guided group exercises, demonstrations, questions and answers and practice.
The practice will draw from biodynamic principles and interconnected fields. The practical explorations can take place on or off a massage table with or without hands-on contact. The inquiry with specific exercises can be in small groups.
Bring your own recording material or take notes.

Alchemy of Truth ALCHEMY OF TRUTH
with Anamika
February 22 - 24, 2011
Price: 220 $

The Alchemy of Truth is a journey of honest inquiry into our True Nature. It's is a process for those that long for freedom and are ready to explore the truth of who they are. Inquiry is born out of a curiosity to know the Truth and a commitment to loving the Truth. It is the process of looking into oneself with an open, compassionate and courageous attitude. In this 3-day process we will learn the art of fire and water: being present and alert to what is and at the same time surrendering any expectation or control. By allowing the moment to unfold, Truth manifests as understanding and knowing.

The foundation of this work is presence, openness and understanding: an honest exploration of our individual structure and the capacity to be with “what is”. It is not about personality adjustment or fixing ourselves but discovering what we already are and reclaiming through loving awareness what we have lost contact with. This work is a gentle ignition of your longing to realize your potential, your desire to be free and to live in a state of love and Freedom. We will work with meditations, inquiry techniques and opening work of the emotional and spiritual bodies.

AnamikaAnamika
Anamika was born in Israel, studied and worked as a social worker before following her calling to explore the deeper essence of life.

When Tyohar and friends founded PachaMama in Costa Rica in the year 2000, she followed the call of her heart and joined the community. Today she lives in PachaMama with her husband and son, where she offers private sessions and lead Silent Retreats that gently point towards the truth at the core of us all, from her experience of living an awakened life.

Spirit of the Drum SPIRIT OF THE DRUM
with Ghosha and Kaveesha
February 25 - 26, 2011
Price: 190 $
Because the workshop requires a special type of leather we need to order in advance, please sign up before February 10th.

During these days, we give a brief history of the hand drum and explain how the various parts of the drum are made. The drums will be made with deer rawhide from the Laurentien forests of Quebec, and we will share a traditional way of preparing the Ash wood frame. We will hold a sweat lodge in order to prepare the participants for the experience of creating their own hand drum. The group is small in order for every participant to have the personal attention needed to 'pull' a good quality drum. We also share some songs that speak directly to use of the hand drum. Drum in hand, the participants of the group will have the sense that something has changed in their lives.

The drum is an instrument that has been found in nearly every culture around the globe since approximately 6000 BC. Drums have been used for ritual, dance, prayer and celebration. The drum invokes a rhythm akin to the heartbeat, and has been said to connect us to the universal heartbeat and the heart of the earth. There are as many traditions surrounding the drum as there are indigenous tribes, so we are careful not to give any single truth about the drum. We prefer that each person finds and carries their own truth and understanding based on their relationship to their drum. Making ones own drum is therefore a kind of "right of passage". It is our intention to create a sacred space in which our friends and relations can come together to create their own instrument, one that will be a tool for them on their own spiritual path, and one that will resonate well in the climate in which it is created.

Kavisha and GoshaKaveesha and Ghosha
made their first hand drums 19 years ago with a Metis from Ontario, who also taught them how to do animal spirit retrievals and to work with the hand drum to induce trance states. They have been working intimately with the Cree of Quebec for 7 years, and have been welcomed into the bear clan, goose people of the north. Their passion has been building their home in order to receive friends and family in sacred circles. They live at their home in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, with their 10 year-old son, where they continue to work with wood and leather, and receiving people year-round for sweat lodge, and ritual gatherings.

VipassnaVIPASSANA DAY
Watchfulness, Presence, Awareness
with Ananda
February 24, 2011
Price: 70 $

The Vipassana day is a precious time that we give to our SELF. Allowing the attention to shift from the world to our nature as pure aware silence.
Simply sitting and being awareness itself.
Vipassana is not a ‘doing’. It is allowing. Allowing the mind to quiet down and let our silent nature surface. When this happens we rest into an awakened silence.
As a device to observe the mind we shift our attention to the breathing flow. If something else takes our attention we allow it to be until it is gone and we return to the stillness which is naturally there underneath it all.
There is no need to ‘do’ the watching, just connecting to this quality which is already there.
The work is the intention and the stillness. The rest happens by itself.

Diving into the world of movement and music, awakening our energy and connecting to our bodies, we work with various forms of dance and rhythms and explore different qualities of movement.

This day event invokes the innate wisdom of the body through authentic expression and awareness, watching the stories our dance reveals and observing reflections of believes.

We create a space for the inner, unique dance to be exposed, reconnecting us to our life energy that pulses through the heartbeat and rhythm of breath, calling the dancer within to lead us through the dance of life.

Roar of the Jaguar ROAR OF THE JAGUAR

with Qayla
February 8, 2011
Price: 70 $

A one day journey where participants will discover their TOTEM animal. Through different exercises and meditations people will learn how to connect with these spirit animals and use their guidance and healing powers.

According to Native American traditions each person comes to this world with a number of totem animals. These totem animals represent the "medicine" we bring to this Earth Walk. Our qualities and gifts, our inner strengths and challenges.
The natives of this continent believe that the messages that animals bring to us come directly from WAKAN TANKA, the Great Spirit. It was because humans lost their innocence along the years and no longer could communicate with Wakan Tanka. The Great Spirit then realized that the only way to transmit messages to us humans was to use the creatures of the animal kingdom that still remain in the realms of innocence.

Playing with the Animal Totem Tarot brings you in contact with the message that the spirits have for you, helping you to get a deeper understanding of your own inner qualities and thus unfolding your potential in life.

Qayla
Yaku Qayla has completed the "shamanic trainings" I and II in the multiversity of the OSHO ashram in Pune, India. He has taken an active part in ceremonies, rituals, and shamanic journeys in Greece, Mexico, Brazil and Costa Rica. His source of inspiration is the indigenous people and their wisdom. Currently he shares this inspiration with many brothers and sisters using the Sweatlodge and the "American Indian medicine cards" as tools.

Yoga YOGA
Morning Classes
with Tal
February 3 - 5, 2011
Price: 70 $

We will learn how to use the body as a tool to become more aware of our mind, our strengths and weaknesses and eventually, our subtle bodies. We will observe the difference between the right and the left sides of our body. A difference which can be a result of strength imbalance due to left-side or right-side preference or injuries. Becoming aware of that is an important step toward bringing you physical body closer to balance. It is also an important step toward observing our preferences, abilities and weaknesses that we carry with us into our emotional and mental activities. With our intention, the practice will allow a re-organization of our skeleton, resulting in “opened energy lines” and hence a rejuvenating and relaxing experience.

TalTal
has a BA in Physical Education (Israel )and a Masters in Exercise Science ( NYC). She taught ‘strength through body’ awareness classes for many years and worked for 6 years as a Personal Trainer in NYC. Additional courses she took along the years: Pilates, gyrotonic and core strength. Her longing for something deeper led her to yoga practice. In India she met a few teachers but what influenced her most was her teacher in Israel: Yael Ziv. She ended up doing a one year teacher training with her, (classic Hatha yoga).

Spiritual Film Festival CREATIVITY, A DOOR TO BEING

with Anamika and Roshan
January 10 - 12, 2011
Price: 290 $

Creativity is a paradoxical state of consciousness. It is action trough no action. Allowing something to happen trough you, or in spite of you. It is allowing the divine to happen, to manifest trough you, it’s a religious state. This workshop is about finding the key to your creativity. Everybody longs for original expression and is often lost very early in childhood when we learn to copy, criticize and compare.

This work will help you remember and reconnect with the healthy child inside you, the one who is always ready to express creative life energy in painting, in dance, in spontaneous expression, in opening to others through the heart. Playful structures will help us explore our creativity. Techniques like dance, bio-energetics and other meditations will add to the rediscovery of the beauty and originality of your expression.

Authentic Movement REIKI

with Mitra
January 8 - 9, 2011
Price: 160 $

The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words...Rei- universal, infinite, and Ki- Life Force. This is the name of a holistic healing art rediscovered in Japan in the late nineteenth century and considered to have ancient roots in Tibet. It is a straightforward healing system, easy to learn and practice. With the Reiki, we allow the Universal life force to flow through us, to heal and balance the other and ourselves. It is not our own personal life force that is used, nor do we manipulate the other person's energy. We simply lay our hands on or above the body, and allow the energy to pass through. Mitra is sharing Reiki workshops that join tools from the world of meditation, Chinese Medicine, yoga, and different types of therapy work. It is not only that one learns a healing tool, but these workshops open doors for personal growth too.

MitraMitra
trained for four years at the “Medicine College of Chinese Medicine and Zen Shiatsu” in Israel. Concurrently, he studied both Thai massage and Reiki and became a Reiki master in 1996. In 1999 Mitra opened his own clinic for the practice of Acupuncture, Shiatsu, Thai massage, Reiki, and Jin shin. He has spent 12 years practicing Chinese Medicine and holding workshops around the world.

A sweatlodge and the Mexica Danza are also part of the group. The more experienced Moon sisters will support the first timers to prepare and all the women will travel together to San Jose for a 4-night event of celebrating the feminine. Then they return to PachaMama while the men are doing their own parallel work.

Gurdjieff Movements GURDJIEFF MOVEMENTS
with Sati
Dec 13, 2010 and
January 13, 2011
Price: 70 $

Gurdjieff Movements are practiced as a centering and awareness exercise, with a focus on body sensations and the connection between the body and the mind.
A practice of non-habitual movements and unusual body postures help us to see our mechanical way of moving, thinking and feeling; and creates the opportunity to break unconscious automatic behavior patterns.
We will focus on the right body posture and alignment that allows free movement of the energy within the body.
Through the Sacred Dances we will work on coordination of different parts of the body, activating the body meridians, and balancing the right and left hemisphere of the brain. We rest in the space of meditation and stillness inside.

SatiSati
Sati has worked with Gurdjieff Sacred Dances intensively for the last 5 years, and has attended Movements Teachers training in India for three years. She has a lot of experience in leading meditation workshops and in her Gurdjieff Movement work she integrates meditation and stillness in the art of the dances. In PachaMama she teaches weekly classes of Gurdjieff Movements and she is a regular assistant in various centering and therapy groups.
