achaMama is located in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica, about 10 km north of Nosara (on the coastal road to Tamarindo), between the villages of Ostional and San Juanillo.

ARRIVING TO SAN JOSE
Most international flights to Costa Rica arrive to Juan Santamaria airport in the capital San Jose.Some of the major international airlines that land here include American, United, KLM, Delta, Taca, British Airways, Continental, Cubana, Mexicana, Iberia and America West. After you land in San Jose, it is recommended to take at least one night rest from the long journey in a hotel or guesthouse in San Jose. A list of recommended hotels in San José can be supplied on demand from our welcome office.

HOW TO GET FROM SAN JOSE TO PACHAMAMA ?

DOMESTIC FLIGHT
There are daily flights to Nosara airport, about 15 km from PachaMama.

Be aware that you can only bring 12 kilos of luggage with Sansa or Nature Air before you have to pay overweight. In extreme cases you can be denied access to the flight.
From Nosara you can easily get a taxi to PachaMama (a 25 minute drive; costs around $25-30).

CAR
PachaMama is about a 6-hour drive from San Jose.
If you wish to come with a car, take the Inter-Americana Highway to the North, in the direction of Liberia. After about 125 km, leave the Inter-Americana in the direction of Nicoya / Santa-Cruz, via the ‘Amistad de Taiwan’ bridge. From Nicoya you have two possibilities:

1) Via Santa Cruz – 27 de Abril – Playa Lagarto – Marbella – San Juanillo,
2) Via Nosara (Sámara direction) – Playa Ostional.

When you get close, follow the signs leading to hotel ‘Luna Azul’.

From May to November you need a 4-wheel-drive (4 x 4) car. During this period
of the year, it is preferable to take the route via Santa Cruz - Marbella.

BUS
A bus departs daily from San José to Nosara or Santa Cruz. The bus station in San Jose is called ‘Alfaro’. It is located in Calle 14 / Avenida 5. It’s advisable to make a reservation one day in advance (Tel: 222-2666).

From Nosara, taxis to PachaMama are available for around $ 30 - $ 40 (a 30 minutes drive).

From Santa Cruz there is one daily bus to Ostional. It departs 12:00 noon daily. You need to get off the bus at the ‘PachaMama junction’, (the driver knows). Then continue on the road to PachaMama (a 30 minutes walk. Hopefully you'll get a ride).

ARRIVING TO LIBERIA, GUANACASTE
Costa Rica’s second international airport (Daniel Odubar) is located in Liberia, the capital of the Guanacaste province, about a 3 hours drive from PachaMama. This airport is expanding each year and receives a growing volume of international flights. It Currently hosts four airlines: American Airlines, Delta, Continental and US airways, and also some charter flights from Canada. If you wish to land closer to PachaMama, check with your travel agent about the option to land in this airport.

BUS
Take a bus to Santa Cruz and follow the instructions above (How to get from Santa Cruz to PachaMama).


TAXI
You can call and book a taxi with our regular and reliable taxi drivers.
The prices are:
From San Jose - PachaMama $ 200
From Liberia - PachaMama $ 100
It makes good economical sense to travel with more than one person in a taxi. Call the drivers and ask them about available seats and days when other people travel.
